Islamabad: Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has launched an unprecedented attack campaign against security forces in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. In the last 24 hours, the organization carried out 16 deadly attacks, while in the last 48 hours this number has reached 32. These attacks have caused huge losses to the Pakistani Army—many soldiers have been martyred and many are injured. Regional experts believe that TTP has strengthened its hold on the province, which has plunged the entire region under the dreadful shadow of terrorism.

South Waziristan the worst affected

TTP carried out these attacks in 8 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa—South Waziristan, Bajaur, Khyber, North Waziristan, Chitral, Tank, Lakki Marwat and Swat. According to security sources, South Waziristan was the worst affected, where army posts in Sarwekai, Zermilina, Azam Warsak and Tora Gola were attacked by snipers and heavy weapons. The attack resulted in the death of one soldier and the destruction of the army's surveillance system.

In Bajaur, terrorists launched mortar and laser gun attacks in the Loi Mamand and Wara Mamand areas, killing two soldiers and destroying an armored vehicle. Frontier Corps (FC) and police posts were targeted in the Landi Kotal and Bara areas in the Khyber district. A mine blast completely destroyed a police post and injured three FC personnel.

Several soldiers killed in the Mir Ali area

Several soldiers were killed in the 50-minute-long exchange of fire at the Sark Leta post in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan. In Chitral, terrorists targeted the Arsun Garrison with two BM missiles, resulting in the destruction of the army's ration depot. A military party was ambushed in Tank district, while FC jawan Rafiullah was killed in Lakki Marwat.

Region come under the shadow of terror

In Swat, terrorists targeted Peace Committee member and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) informant Shah Wazir Khan with a bomb, seriously injuring him. It is clear from the increasing casualties of the Pakistani Army and continuous attacks that the TTP has increased its control over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the region has once again come under the shadow of terror.
